Our Team
Chelsea Berg, MS
Grants Manager & Great Lakes Federal Program Officer

Chelsea Berg is the Grants Manager for the National Sea Grant College Program. In this role she oversees all aspects of granting within the National Sea Grant Office. Additionally, she serves as a Federal Program Officer for western Great Lakes Sea Grant programs.
According to her mom, Chelsea’s childhood dream was to “save the Great Lakes.” She likes to think that in her role she is working (in a small, supportive way) towards that lofty, childhood goal for not only the Great Lakes, but coastal communities across the United States.
Chelsea holds a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Chemistry from Lake Superior State University (loved her Yooper years!). She was a Sea Grant Knauss Fellow in 2009 with the NOAA Ecosystem Program and has spent time with the NOAA Cooperative Institutes Program.
Outside of the office, Chelsea enjoys spending as much time in and on the water as possible during the short summer months in Northern Michigan where she’s based, and reading, cross-country skiing, making maple syrup, and wishing for summer during the long winter months.
